String Orchestra

• This course provides an opportunity for students who have reached the necessary degree of maturity in playing a string instrument to perform in a group and as a soloist.
• Development of comprehensive musicianship will be emphasized through a wide repertoire of original string orchestra literature, transcriptions, and arrangements.
• After school activities and rehearsals are integral to the course.

Apex Arts Orchestra

• The Apex Arts Orchestra class is a process-oriented group, which provides an opportunity for students to utilize interactive musical skills in a performing ensemble.
• While promoting the advancement of strings music of artistic and historical significance, it reinforces the musical and technical skills taught in class and develops the application of those skills.
• This course advances the growth of the student’s overall musicianship and promotes lifelong activity in music. At home practicing to master musical skills is a necessary component of this course.
• Small group instruction is provided for students desiring to acquire skill in playing string instruments.
• Good tone production, instrumental technique, sight- reading, and basic fundamentals of music are emphasized.
• After school activities and rehearsals are integral to the course.​

Chamber Orchestra

• The BHS Chamber Orchestra is an elite, audition-only group of high-level musicians.
• Chamber Orchestra rehearses during Bruin Blocks and after school.
